5 Interesting Details You May Have Missed in the GTA 6 News Blowout

Love it or hate it, Grand Theft Auto 6 is poised to become one of the most successful entertainment products ever made. When the game launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, it’s almost certainly going to sell millions upon millions of copies within hours, and for good reason, too.

Rockstar Games recently gave fans an extended, 26-minute look at GTA 6’s gameplay in a broadcast on Netflix, and the game looks undeniably impressive. Whether you’re a GTA fan or not, it’s evident that GTA 6 has had a lot of money put behind it, as everything from the game’s graphics to its ridiculously expansive open-world, is lush with details and realistic elements. Rockstar seems to have put pretty much everything it has learned from its previous titles, such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, into this game, and it shows.

While the extended look at GTA 6 did show a lot of the game’s content, there are some features in the game that weren’t outright mentioned in the presentation. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at 5 of the most interesting details in GTA 6 that you may not have heard about.

1. Jason and Lucia’s Bodies Can Change Depending on Your Choices

Shortly before Grand Theft Auto 6’s extended look went live on Netflix, developers from Rockstar revealed in an interview with Dazed that a feature from previous GTA games would finally be returning in the upcoming title: the ability to gain weight. That’s right, if you eat too much food in-game without exercising, Jason and Lucia (the protagonists of GTA 6) will become fat. If you take part in some of the exercising mini-games in GTA 6, however, the character you play as will visibly build muscles.

The ability to change the protagonists’ bodies doesn’t just apply to eating food and working out, though. Players who spend a long time away from their in-game beds or escape from police for extended periods of time will become noticeably disheveled, as well. Therefore, the way that Jason and Lucia look depends entirely on how you play the game.

2. Social Media Will Play a Big Role in the Game

In GTA 6’s extended preview, there’s a scene in which an NPC can be seen hosting a live-stream in-game, complete with a chat system to boot. As this scene suggests, social media is going to be a major component of Rockstar’s upcoming game. GTA 6 is going to have a fleshed-out in-game app called Snapmatic, which is meant to be a parody of real-life apps like TikTok and Instagram.

Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be the first GTA game to have social media of some kind, as GTA 4 and 5 both had fake internet networks of their own, but this title will seemingly take this feature to the next level. Unfortunately, though, you won’t be able to make your own posts, as Jason and Lucia do not want to leave a digital footprint.

3. Players Will Have a Much Harder Time Escaping from Cops

Unlike previous GTA titles, GTA 6 is going to feature a much more realistic wanted system. Rather than having cops spawn out of thin air whenever you commit a crime, the team at Rockstar decided to give the police a complex AI system that helps them determine if players broke the law. On the bright side, this means that you can technically get away with crimes scot-free as long as no one notices them. This, however, also means that it will be a lot more difficult for you to get the police off your tail.

There are three types of information that the police can collect on the player once they commit a crime. These are the physical description of the player, the clothing that the player is wearing, and the footage of them committing the crime (if CCTV cameras were able to capture it). The police will also know what car the player was driving when they broke the law, and whether or not they were with another person.

4. GTA 6 Will Judge Players Based on Their Actions

Much like Rockstar’s previous title, Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto 6 will have a Criminal Profile system that assigns players a reputation based on the actions they perform. If they pet a dog or avoid getting into unnecessary conflicts, then their reputation will become more positive. If, however, they kill people indiscriminately and commit morally wrong acts, then their reputation will tank.

It’s unclear how deep this system will go, but it’ll definitely add an interesting wrinkle to GTA’s gameplay formula.

5. NPCs Will React to You in Different Ways

In GTA 5, there were only a handful of ways in which players could interact with the many unnamed NPCs that roamed the game’s world. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor had just a handful of dialogue lines that they could say to other people, and conversations typically ended in either insults or fist fights.

GTA 6, however, is going to allow players to interact with NPCs on a deeper level. The game will give Jason and Lucia the ability to greet and taunt NPCs, as well as defuse and incite arguments if they are hostile towards them. Some NPCs will also be carrying guns, so you may unintentionally get shot if you anger one of them too much.
