Several games don’t just end when you complete their main story or quest. Some of the great games allow you to continue exploring, hunting, and participating in other activities despite the main objective being completed. Here are six games with the best post-game content that you should try if you want a good narrative and options after completing the main quest.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring doesn’t end once you take down the main boss. You still have the option to go after optional bosses, discover hidden areas, take on side quests, and even unlock alternate endings if you have a previous save file. An interesting element is that players can do a second playthrough with New Game Plus while retaining much of their progress. Developers also added a massive DLC, which brings new bosses, weapons, quests, and more. 

Elden Ring’s post-game content stands out because of the sheer amount of things you can do despite having technically finished the main quest. You can even start quests or discover encounters and bosses you didn’t have the chance to during the main quest. The addition of alternate endings and the requirements you must meet to unlock them makes the game more exciting. The DLC further increases challenges and also makes the already massive world even bigger.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus actually unlocks content once the end credits finish rolling. The game gives players opportunities to encounter Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Completing the Pokédex also becomes a crucial element, which requires players to travel and research. The game’s Daybreak update added even more post-game content, such as Massive Mass Outbreaks and the Eternal Battle Reverie. 

Unlike other games, Pokémon Legends: Arceus makes the post-game content feel connected to the original story rather than random challenges. Persona 5 Royal’s post-game content expands the existing story and character systems, rather than introducing something new or random. The semester gives players additional narrative content, and the boss offers new gameplay rather than players getting brief activities to complete. 

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne essentially becomes another game after you complete the initial storyline. The Iceborne campaign introduces a Master Rank progression system, a new region, more monsters, and quests. This isn’t all, as completing the campaign allows players to enter the Guiding Lands, where you can hunt monsters, gather resources, and continue completing assignments. 

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s gameplay revolves around becoming stronger to defeat challenging monsters. The Iceborne campaign and then the Guiding Lands give players a reason to continue progressing, getting better gear, and collecting more resources to defeat stronger enemies. The endgame also becomes substantially harder, as players must optimise their builds and master their weapons to survive. 

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has substantial post-game content, such as new playable environments, enemies, and encounters. Boss battles are also tailor-made for endgame, where players know their stuff. The free Thank You Update provides substantial new content, including the Endless Tower, where players get Pictos, costumes, and gear as rewards for defeating encounters. 

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 gives players a reason to stick around after completing the main story, especially for those craving more danger. The new areas let players explore, while the Endless Tower offers tougher enemies to test their mettle. The new bosses are also made for players who know how to handle their own.

NieR:Automata

NieR:Automata provides multiple options for players after they reach the major ending. You can either revisit earlier portions from 9S’ perspective or continue the story with new content. Once you reach the ending, Chapter Select allows you to return to specific parts to change the endings, finish side quests, and clean up other content. 

This makes NieR:Automata one of the more interesting titles on the list, as its post-game content isn’t just new content; instead, you can also change the timeline and how things end.
